ERNEST JOHNSON
A.K.A.
“TOO SLICK”

Ernest also known as E.J. by many, started boxing in 1993 at the age of 13. After three short months, E.J. had his first Amatuer fight. It was in 1994 during his fifth fight that he won the “Regional U.S. Championships” in the 13-14 age division. He took a short break while in high school to play & focus on high school sports such as track, baseball, football & wrestling, earned a college scholarship in wrestling at a division II school and turned it down to pursue boxing. In 1997 at age 17, E.J. returned to the ring. In 1998 & 1999 he became a Two-Time Champ of the “Oregon State Golden Gloves” and “U.S. Championships.” During the year 2000 E.J. won numerous titles. He is a Three-Time “Boxers For Christ” Jr.-Welterweight Champion,” he won the ”California State Golden Gloves,” he was “2000 Western Trials Champion” and was an alternate for the “2000 Olympics!” E.J. held an Amateur record of 68-11 and later turned Pro in 2001 on the ‘Mayweather vs. Diego Corrales’ under card at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. He currently has an amazing record of 17-2-1 with 7 K.O.’s. He was ranked #11 in the USBA ratings in 2004 and hopes to break into the top 10 rankings by 2008. He is a 2nd Generation Fighter, the son of Ernest Johnson, who as a Pro held a record of 14-3 and was rated the top 10 in the world as a Featherweight, unfortunately his retirement came early due to a detached retina. In addition to training E.J., Ernest is currently training a few other Pros, one of them being Lester Gonzales, a 6-0 up & coming Jr. Middleweight. E.J. has one thought that he’d like to leave with you and that is: “IF YOU FAIL TO PREPARE…PREPARE TO FAIL!”

EDDIE ROA

Eddie was born in Calexico, California, a small town across the border of Mexico. At the age of 20 years old, Eddie moved to San Jose, California where he began training under Kru Rey Garcia, the 2001 ‘IKF’ Heavyweight State Champion and Two-Time National ‘Chi Sau’ Champion. Eddies Muay Thai style is straight from Thailand as he trained with many Thai Champions at the world renowned “Fairtex” gym in San Francisco, and the Fairtex Muay Thai camp in Bangplee, Bangkok, and Fairtex Muay Thai camp in Pattaya, Thailand. His Pro debut took place in Pattaya, Thailand by a win with a first round knockdown. Eddie has fought at the Stardust Casino in Las Vegas, Bangkok and Pattaya, Thailand. He is featured in two Thai documentaries based on foreign fighters in Thailand and also on the Official Guide to Muay Thai (book) with pictures of him and the Grand Master Apidej. Eddie follows the words from Fairtex, “TO FIGHT LIKE A THAI YOU MUST TRAIN LIKE A THAI, AND ALWAYS BE INSPIRED.”

CLARK GRACIE

Clark was born in San Francisco, Ca. into the “World renowned Gracie Family.” He was raised in both San Francisco and Rio De Janeiro, Brazil as he lived back and forth between the two. Clark, a “Brown Belt” under his father, the 1969-1972 “World Champion, Carley Gracie” and the grandson of the creator of the art known today as “Gracie or Brazillian Jiu Jitsu,” ‘Carlos Gracie.’ From childhood, Clark was exposed to many relatives whom he got his inspiration from; his father, uncles and cousins. Having been surrounded by great family Champions, this gave Clark the desire to be the Champion he is today. Having been born into the ‘Gracie’ family, Clark has competed and accomplished several challenges as he always had a strong desire to train. In 2005 Clark was “1st Place Champion” in the “San Diego Open.” He is a two time “U.S. National Champion” for 2005 and 2006. In April 2006, Clark was a “Pan American” Medalist. On October 14 2006, he won “1st Place” in the “Arizona State Grappling Challenge” and on November 4th 2006, he won “1st Place” in the “California Classic International Brazillian Jiu Jitsu Grappling” Tournament. Clark is very passionate about teaching his students to become Champions, just as the “Gracie” tradition. Clark is a true believer, that Jiu Jitsu is #1. His intentions are to pass on the “Knowledge and Respect” of Jiu Jitsu to all. And to pass on the “Confidence to be Calm in a Situation.” Clark’s words to you are: “THE GREATEST GIFT OF JIU JITSU IS THE LIFESTYLE THAT YOU CAN MAINTAIN; THAT ONLY THOSE WHO TRAIN CAN APPRECIATE!”

MICHAEL OLIVARES

Michael began boxing in 5th grade. As the youngest of 11 children, he knows all about the art of defending himself. Throughout his high school years, Michael boxed at the Amateur level in between participating in football, baseball and wrestling. At the beginning of 2003 he became an instructor at the Encinitas Boxing Club. It was there that he realized his strength and passion as a boxing instructor/trainer and wanted to make this a part of his life. Michael is a Nebraska native who has lived in the San Diego area for 9 years and has received his B.A. in Communications from Cal State San Marcos in 2003. By day, Michael is a professional recruiter in the staffing industry. Michael’s words of wisdom are straight from Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher: “DISCIPLINE IS DOING WHAT YOU REALLY DON’T WANT TO DO SO YOU CAN DO WHAT YOU REALLY WANT TO DO. GOT THAT?”

NOEL SILL

Originally from the small town of Sequim, Washington, Noel comes from a strong 10 year background of “Kempo Karate” and “Self Defense.” She is NASM certified and enjoys training both kids and adults. Her future goals include opening a summer fitness camp for kids & adults, while implementing a training program for people living in retirement communities. Noel is currently the instructor for ‘Endurance Challenge’ Her mission is to push your fitness to the limit and help you reach your goals! “Remember it’s all about being fit and feeling Strong!”

PAM HARVEY

Pam began her quest for Physical Development almost 3 years ago, upon discovery of Pacific Beach Boxing, where the trainers here helped her achieve her goals as she lost 35 lbs and toned up those muscles! She has made the transition from a dedicated (and slightly obsessed!) member, to a part of Pacific Beach Boxing’s team of trainers. Her love of “Abs Workouts,” has lead to the study and development of a ‘tough but fun’ class that will help ‘you reach your’ goals! Never think it’s too late or too hard to accomplish what your heart desires. Do it for ‘yourself’ and let others enjoy the benefits! Pam’s motto is: “BE TRUE TO YOURSELF, LOVE WHAT YOU DO AND ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!”

DANIEL ULLOA

As a child, Dan began his training in Tae Kwon Do and moved up to a “Blue Belt.” Later as an adult, he picked up his training again and added Muay Thai Kickboxing. Soon after, he became active as a “Muay Thai Fighter” with over 15 bouts. Dan infuses his classes and personal training sessions with focus on technique. He has the ability to work with people at all levels and will lead them to improve on their fitness aspect or enhance their fighting skills. Dan has this to say: “NOT EVERYTHING THAT IS FACED CAN BE CHANGED; BUT NOTHING CAN BE CHANGED UNTIL IT IS FACED!”
